VERUM Stoppino Close is a magnetic closing system for doors without locks (i.e. works as a laundry room door or a closet double door latch). Designed by Verum. Made in Italy.
Thanks to a system with two magnets, it is possible to keep the door shut in any situation. Moreover, there is no noise when opening and closing the door. Stoppino Close is completely concealed when the door is closed.
Installation is quick and easy since the housing cups provided set automatically magnets in the correct position and with a screw you can adjust the attraction force. Magnets can also be applied on the top of the door for an even more minimalistic solution so that the frame and the side of the door will be completely clean with no visible hardware.
Stoppino Close can be applied on wooden and aluminum frame doors.

How do I properly align the magnets on a magnetic latch?
Install the Verum Stoppino Close latch in the door header on the “lock side”, not on the hinge side. Note that the magnets should be slightly offset (1/8”- 3/8” or 3-10 mm) to provide a reliable latching force.
Do I need to mortise (recess) the latch into the door or frame, or can it surface-mount?
Yes, the Verum Stoppino Close latch must be recessed both in the door frame and the door. Use a 15/16” (23.8 mm) Forstner bit, such as Freud PB-0065, and drill a 5/16” (8 mm) deep hole. Then, pre-drill a hole for the screw.
Can I install one myself, or do I need a carpenter?
Yes, installing the Verum Stoppino Close is easy with basic tools (a cordless drill, an appropriately sized Forstner bit, and drill bits).
What's the difference between a push-to-open and a standard magnetic latch?
The Verum Stoppino Close is a magnetic non-mechanical latch. You can open the door from either side by pulling or pushing the door lever or knob.
Will a magnetic latch work on a hollow-core door?
Yes, most hollow-core doors have a sturdy wooden frame (stile/top rail) that is 1-1/8” to 1-1/2” thick. Verum Stoppino only needs a shallow flat-bottom bore, therefore you can install the Verum Stoppino Close magnetic latch on most hollow core doors.
Will the magnet lose strength over time?
All magnets lose strength over time, but the process is extremely slow—often less than 1% loss per decade.
What magnetic door latch finishes are available to match my hardware?
Verum Stoppino Close is available in three finishes: white, black, and satin steel.
How visible is the hardware from the front of the door
When the door is closed, the magnetic latch is completely invisible.
Are magnetic latches more reliable than ball catches?
Not only is the Verum Stoppino Close reliable, but unlike a mechanical ball catcher, the magnetic latch is completely silent and non-protruding. To prevent slamming sounds from the door slab itself hitting the casing, add a press-fit rubber buffer.
