FAQ
How do I install one on different floor types (hardwood, tile, carpet)?
Some models of magnetic door stops require you to drill a smaller or larger hole in the floor to recess the mechanism (i.e. Ø1-3/8” and another Ø3/4” is required for Ghostop GS300), which may be difficult with in-floor heating or if the floor is tile or concrete. Invi Magnetic Door Catch has a low-profile floor base that is attached with strong double-sided tape, with the option to use a small screw if necessary. The double-sided tape is strong enough for hardwood, tile, and concrete.
Do I need to drill into the wall or floor, or are there adhesive options?
While some types of magnetic door catchers require drilling large or deep holes, the Invi Magnetic catch uses an adhesive option with a double-sided 3M tape.
Can I install one on a hollow-core door?
Yes, all common interior hollow-core doors available in the United States have a wood frame (stile/rail) that is large enough to install Invi Magnetic Door Catch.
What's the maximum door weight or size it can handle?
Invi can handle any door size and is recommended for doors up to 200 lbs.
Can it be adjusted for different door swing distances?
Yes, the Invi magnetic base can be positioned at any door opening angle.
Does it work with doors that don't have a metal component?
Absolutely, the Invi magnetic catcher system is completely self-contained and does not rely on other metal components.
What finishes are available (chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, etc.)?
Invi Magnetic Door Stop is available in gray and black. Gray base is perfect for white oak hardwood or engineered floors, while black is an ideal option for darker flooring materials, such as walnut.
How visible/noticeable will it be on the floor?
Invi Magnetic Door Stop has a low-profile, small-diameter, surface-mounted base (3/16" front and ¼" rear).
Will the magnet weaken over time?
No, not in a perceivable way. Magnets usually lose about 1% of their strength over a decade.
How do I disengage the door from the stop — does it release easily?
Yes. The magnetic force is adjustable.
Are they suitable for exterior doors?
Invi is designed for interior doors and is not suitable for exterior doors that require weather stripping and bottom door seals.
